Recycling plant diversifies into other problem plastics
Wednesday November 29 2006
As well as accepting farm plastics directly from collection schemes, measures are being put in place that will also enable the multi-million pound plant to recycle dairy and meat wrap wastage. As one of the few recycling plants in the UK able to handle contaminated plastics, trials are currently taking place into processing plastics which are heavily contaminated with more complex elements such as blood, meat, fat and other food stuffs such as dairy produce.
Working with several retailers, food processors and local authorities, the recycling plant is developing a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to landfill for such problematic waste plastics.
